Wildernest Care Farm

Wildernest Care Farm

We offer people with additional learning needs (ALN) and autism the chance to take part in meaningful, hands-on projects and outdoor work.

About Us

We aim to provide a safe place for people to relax and socialise with their peers and staff. Participants have a say in the work they do and the projects they carry out; contributing to a sense of belonging and self-worth. Participants are treated as individuals; their needs, how they like to communicate and how they like to work are carefully considered and catered for. Wildernest is a place for people to come and enjoy building friendships and sharing interests with peers as well as staff.

What we offer

Wildernest offers people choice, access, time and space.

All key elements in making someone feel safe and enabling them to reach their potential and accomplish the things they would like to.

Wildernest believes that everyone has something to offer and contribute, we aim to support people to do this.

Our support staff

The support staff at Wildernest are passionate about supporting people with ALN and autism.

We believe that working outdoors with natural materials and carrying out meaningful tasks has an extremely positive impact on people; their relationships, their self-esteem, their communication and their health and well-being.

Engaging our hands in outdoor work and craft activities encourages moments of calm, grounds us and connects us to our bodies, the natural world with and the environment around us.

Wildernest Care Farm is a Community Interest Company (CIC) based in Ceredigion, west Wales. It is 15 acre small-holding with an orchard, hay meadow, polytunnel, veg beds, goats, geese, chickens and rabbits. The land is managed to encourage wildlife and native flora and fauna. There is a large pond, a scrape, a small area of woodland and a young willow bed.

Wildernest holds a Green Care Quality Mark.

Care Farms aren’t currently regulated in any way except through an organisation called Social Farms and Gardens. They offer a quality assurance for green care providers called the Green Care Quality Mark. The Quality Mark ensures that settings are running a safe and professional organisation and makes sure that the people and animals we look after are safe.

A wonderful space, run by an amazing woman. A beautiful creative place surrounded by nature. Lots of opportunities to work with animals, plants, woodworking, arts etc. Izzy is a special person, who puts people at ease and genuinely cares. I’d throughly recommend Wildernest Care Farm to anyone looking for support.
